As the U.S. Senate prepares to reauthorize and reform the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), Senator Booker would like to hear from New Jersey stakeholders on the National Flood Insurance Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2023, along with suggestions for alternative language or policy approaches to improve the NFIP. The temporary extension of the National Flood Insurance program will expire on September 30, 2025. Congress must pass legislation before September 30; otherwise, policies will no longer be available under the NFIP. Flood insurance affordability is critical to safety and economic security. Please share your thoughts by September 15.
The League has long supported long-term reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program and passed a League Conference Resolution in 2023.
