[ARCHIVED] Legislation Introduced to Increase SALT Deduction Cap

Senator George Helmy and Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill introduced bipartisan legislation, the Tax Relief for Middle-Class Families, that increases the State and Local Taxes (SALT) deduction cap from $10,000 to $100,000, increasing the cap that was implemented with the passage of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. That provision is scheduled to expire at the end of 2025.

H.R.680 has been introduced and referred to the House Ways and Means Committee and enjoys bipartisan support. The Senate companion is awaiting introduction and referral to a committee.
