Keeping New Year’s fitness resolutions is a little bit easier in Monroe Township (Gloucester) in 2026. The township partnered with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield and the National Fitness Campaign to present the community’s new Fitness Court at Owens Memorial Park in Williamstown. This state-of-the-art outdoor workout facility uses body weight exercises to support residents' fitness journeys.
At an opening event, a friendly competition was held between the Monroe Township Police Department and Adversary Fitness of Williamstown to showcase several exercise options available on the Fitness Court.
Mayor Gregory Wolfe served as the master of ceremonies for the ribbon cutting and was joined by special guests Jennifer Goudy from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Assemblyman Cody Miller, Council President Heverly, and Councilmen Brian Cope and Al Rossi.
This project was fully funded through grants from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield and a legislative grant for Owens Park, secured for Monroe Township by Assemblyman Miller, Assemblyman Dan Hutchinson, and Senator Paul Moriarty.
The Monroe Township Wellness Team and Business Administrator spearheaded the project, coordinating local resources to bring it to completion including the Monroe Township Municipal Utilities Authority, which poured the concrete base for the Fitness Court.
