The Borough of Dunellen has kicked off a new way to reach out to residents: the Tuesday Talks with the Mayor video series. Dunellen Mayor Jason Cilento noted that the short videos are where, “I’ll be sharing timely updates, important local reminders, and happenings around our miracle mile as well as a highlight of a Dunellen business once a month.”
The first episode put the spotlight on the Department of Public Works after their efforts during and after the Winter Storm Fern. “I want to extend a big thank you to our Department of Public Works crew for their hard work over the past few days, as well as to our Emergency Services, our Fire Department, Police Department, Rescue Squad, and OEM for being on standby and for doing their part,” Cilento said.
The Mayor praised the around-the-clock cleanup work by the DPW on the streets of the borough. He took the opportunity to remind residents that sidewalk and crosswalk clearing is the responsibility of the homeowner, but that the DPW was helping. “Our DPW crews have been providing assistance due to the heavy snowfall to keep our student and our pedestrian walkways safe.”
He also announced that the town would be enforcing towing during the next snow event to ensure that cleanup crews would be able to fulfill their work and keep the community safe. “We have been enforcing ticketing, but it seems to not be working, even though we provide alternative locations for people to park their vehicles.”
“I look forward to continuing these conversations with you on Tuesday Talks with the Mayor,” he said. The videos are available on the borough’s Facebook page as well as the Mayor’s Facebook page.
