Union Township (Union) and its Police Department are stepping up to prevent human trafficking with special awareness building efforts this month.
The Union Township Police Department recently shared an update noting, “January, is known as the start of the New Year, but is also recognized as ‘National Human Trafficking Awareness Month.’ Human trafficking is a critical public health issue, but too often, can remain a "hidden secret."
The added, “Preventative efforts, such as raising awareness regarding human trafficking, remains essential in maintaining public health well-being.” In addition, they invited readers to share information about the warning signs of human trafficking and resources for assistance.
At its January meeting, the Union Township Committee also included a proclamation the January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
