Event Theme and Wrap-Up

Strong municipalities are built on a foundation of cooperation, creativity, and community outreach. The 108th Annual Conference was held November 14-16 at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City featuring three days of sessions, networking, and product highlights to help local government officials buttress their efforts to lead through a future filled with the latest developments in technology, the environment, and infrastructure while managing public safety, health, and the multitude of other issues that arise. The event opened the doors to local government officials, connecting them with state and federal officials and resources.

Keeping the needs of municipal leaders at the forefront of the event planning process, then-League President Mayor Ray Heck of Millstone Borough noted that the 2023 League Conference once again focused on helping attendees prepare for the future.

Protecting our communities through training, education and grant guidance are the right tools in shielding municipalities from harm. As elected officials, we hold enormous responsibilities with assisting in areas like preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.

In 2023, the League chose to feature the municipal building as the core of its Annual Conference logo, said League Executive Director, who added it is central to every municipality, and the beating heart of the community. After years of remote gatherings, it's a statement of where we're at today. We're going back to town hall. Meetings are in-person again. Our citizens are returning to main street and our community centers. And we look forward to gathering in Atlantic City this November to create stronger communities through education and collaboration.

The largest municipal gathering in the nation, the NJ League of Municipalities Annual Conference provides extensive learning opportunities, meaningful face-to-face networking, and a comprehensive showcase of the latest product innovations to New Jersey’s local government officials and professionals.

The 2023 League Conference brought the event back to pre-pandemic levels of activity – and beyond. The sold-out Exhibit Hall, the well-attended sessions, and the celebratory events were lively and illustrated that New Jersey’s municipalities are moving positively into the future. The annual event marked a successful gathering with the  election of a new League President, Officers, and Executive Board, along with informative messages from Governor  Phil Murphy, as well as wide variety of local, state, and federal officials and information providers.
