Bill Requiring Cost-Benefit Analyses for PILOTs Advances 

The Senate Community & Urban Affairs committee amended and advanced legislation (S-4069) requiring cost-benefit analyses for PILOTs. The bill has been referred to the Senate Budget & Appropriations Committee.

Governor Conditionally Vetoes S-3418 

On May 12, Governor Murphy conditionally vetoed S-3418, which authorizes certain types of permanent structures recently constructed or erected on preserved farmland to be used in certain cases for purposes of holding special occasion events.

Governor Signs Bill for Housing Resident Farm Employees  

Governor Murphy signed S-3353, which directs the State Agriculture Development Committee to adopt agricultural management practices for housing resident farm employees on commercial farms.

League Raises Concerns About Mandatory Food Waste Recycling Bill

On Thursday, the League testified and raised concerns about the budget implications of A-4118, which establishes statewide targets to reduce disposal of organic waste in landfills and requires DEP to adopt regulation to achieve targets.
