New Provisions of OPRA Take Effect September 3 

The new reforms to the Open Public Records Act (OPRA) will take effect on Tuesday, September 3.

SHBC Reschedules 2025 Rate Renewal Meeting for September 5 

After postponing the July 29 State Health Benefits Commission meeting to act on the Plan Year 2025 rate renewal, which includes a 17.2% increase for the Local Government Employer group, a September 5 rate renewal meeting notice was posted this week.

NJEDA Proposes Small Business Liquor License Acquisition Program 

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) has proposed a $10 million grant program to support small businesses with inactive plenary retail consumption licenses.

The League is Now Accepting Applications for the 2024 Innovation in Governance Awards Program

Through our annual recognition program, the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and the New Jersey League of Municipalities (NJLM) will again acknowledge and promote Innovation in Governance. This is a great opportunity to showcase innovative solutions to any problems that have cropped up, either suddenly or over time, in your municipality. It can also be an opportunity to let your peers in on innovations that prevent problems from arising. The Innovation in Governance Awards Committee is looking for new and distinctive approaches in any municipal government department. 

You can apply online or print and send it via email or mail! The nomination deadline is Friday, October 25, 2024.

2024 League Conference

Annual Conference: Register Now for Early Bird Pricing 

Register today for the League's Annual Conference. Now is the time to take advantage of Early Bird Pricing, which ends September 30.  

Pricing for Government or nonprofit attendees is $60 for registrants and $10 for spouse/partner and non-government attendees is $120 and $10 for spouse/partner. Spouses/partners are not eligible for CEU credits. 

As of October 1, the advance rates will be $70/$20 for government/nonprofit attendees and their spouses/partners and $150/$40 for non-government attendees and their spouses/ partners.
