Governor Takes Action 

Governor Murphy Conditionally Vetoes Brewery Bill

On November 27, Governor Murphy issued a conditional veto on S-3038, aiming to reintroduce inactive 'pocket' licenses into the market and facilitate easier access to liquor licenses for establishments in shopping malls.

Governor Murphy Vetoes Bill to Allow Community Bonfires 

Governor Murphy has vetoed S-861, a bill that would have allowed municipalities to hold annual events to burn Christmas trees. The League supported this legislation and is disappointed by the Governor’s decision to veto the bill.

Governor Conditionally Vetoes SHBC Claims Administrators Bill  

Governor Murphy conditionally vetoed legislation that permits the State Health Benefits Commission (SHBC) to award contracts for more claims administrators and requires claims data and trend reports.

Bill Advancing Requiring the Use of Cooperative Purchasing Systems

On Monday, the Assembly Appropriations Committee will be considering A-5687, which would require local contracting units to determine and utilize cost-saving practices when procuring goods and services.

Bill Revising Workers’ Compensation Coverage Advances

Legislation that revises workers’ compensation coverage for certain injuries to volunteer and professional public safety and law enforcement personnel passed the Assembly Labor Committee.

Bill Increasing Workers’ Compensation Contingency Fees Advances

Legislation that increases workers’ compensation contingency fees passed the Assembly Labor Committee.

Bill Reducing Parking Availability Advances 

Legislation that would reduce the number of parking spaces required under the statewide site improvements standards relative to a development’s proximity to public transportation advanced through Assembly committee.
