Municipal Fire Department Chaplain Benefits Legislation Signed

On Monday, Acting Governor Nicholas Scutari signed A-5275/S-3671 that allows a municipality to determine if newly appointed individuals serving as municipal fire department chaplains will hold rank and receive salary and benefits.

Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Starts Municipal Outreach Campaign

NJDEP Holds Inland Flood Protection Rule Q&A Session

Lunch & Learn: State Planning Commission – State Plan Update

The NJDEA Announces Grant Funding

The New Jersey Economic and Development Authority (NJEDA) announced the New Jersey Asset Activation Planning Grant, which will provide up to $50,000 in grant funding for pre-development planning demonstrating the viability of projects activating underutilized public assets to benefit communities and the regional economy.   

The grant requires the submission of proposed plans including conceptual designs; feasibility studies; land-use planning; economic analyses; market analyses; and legal analyses. 

The proposals must: 

  • Demonstrate to what extent the utilization of the public asset will be improved and its benefits to the regional economy and the community. 
  • Target deficient, under-utilized, or vacant land, buildings, or infrastructure owned by a county, municipality, district, public authority, public agency, or political subdivision/body. 
  • Correlate with the state's development objectives through project elements including creating new business sectors, driving economic growth and equity, improving land use, expanding access to public transportation/public services, and innovating uses for distressed public assets, un/underutilized public property, or unutilized public lands.   

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis during a 90-day period ending on November 13, 2023, or until grant funding is exhausted. For more information, please visit NJEDA’s website.
