Expansion of Prevailing Wage Requirements to PILOT Projects

The Senate Budget committee was scheduled to consider a bill expanding prevailing wage requirements to PILOT projects, however, after outreach by the League and other stakeholders, sponsor Senator Gopal held S-2798 for additional review and possible amendments.  .

Local Government Employer Group Mid-Year Experience Analysis

At the March 8, State Health Benefits Commission (SHBC) meeting, AON, the actuary for the SHBC provided the commission members a mid-year performance overview of the plan.

Annual Financial Disclosure Statements Guidance Issued

The Division of Local Government Services released LFN 2023-06. The Local Government Ethics Law requires local government officers to file a financial disclosure statement annually.

Governor Signs Legislation Permitting Alternate Deputy Registrars

Governor Murphy signed legislation which permits the appointment of additional alternate deputy registrars.

Right to Farm Protections Extended to Aquaculture Activities 

This week, Governor Murphy signed into law S-428, extending the Right to Farm Act protections to include certain shellfish aquaculture activities. The League supported this logical extension of the Right to Farm Act.

Assembly Committee to Consider 20 and Out Legislation 

On Monday the Assembly State and Local Government Committee will be considering A-4498, which provides PFRS members a retirement allowance after 20 years of services regardless of age.

NJ Carpenters Union Presents Free Seminar

The New Jersey Carpenters Union will be hosting a free seminar on “Best Practices for Purchasing, Administering and Closing Out Publicly Funded construction Projects on March 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Atlantic City Convention Center, Room 402, Atlantic City. Advance registration for the seminar, with DCA approved continuing education credits, is required.
