Day 3: 106th Annual League Conference
The Conference wraps up today, but informative sessions, exhibits, and events still go on. We appreciate all of your support and thank you for your participation and cooperation in making this a successful event. We look forward to seeing you all in-person again in Atlantic City for the 107th Annual Conference, November 15-17, 2022! If you’re already onsite and have been verified with an official green sticker on your badge, you’re ready to go! If today is your first day at the Conference, please take a moment to review our Health & Safety policy to ensure you are prepared to mask and verify your vaccine/negative test. If you haven’t yet downloaded the Annual Conference App, don’t miss your opportunity to get an easy-to-navigate guide to the Conference and to our exhibitors and speakers that will come in handy for months to come. The League Luncheon will welcome Gov. Phil Murphy and honor Colonel Patrick Callahan and New Jersey’s Public Health Officers. Don’t have a ticket? Other highlights include: Starring NJ: Setting the Scene for a Booming Film Industry (9:00 a.m., Room 309). Join NJLM President Janice Kovach and Steven Gorelick, Executive Director of the NJ Motion Picture & TV Commission with film industry and communications experts to discuss the current opportunities for small, minority, and women-owned businesses. American Rescue Plan Compliance (10:45 a.m., Room 403). Join Jacquelyn Suarez, Director, Division of Local Government Services to learn about the American Rescue Plan Act’s Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, including best practices for compliance, procurement, subrecipient monitoring, and internal controls. Cyber Issues (10:45 a.m., Hall A). FBI Newark Special Agent Brett Yeager will provide an overview for investigating cyber-attacks and intrusions. Shared Services Update with the Czars (10:45 a.m., Room 404). New Jersey’s Shared Services Czars, former Mayors Jordan Glatt and Nicolas Platt, will be joined by a panel of practitioners to discuss the LEAP program, Shared Services for County Jail Annexes/Shared Municipal Courts, and other savings opportunities available to New Jersey municipalities Racial Impact: Equity in the American Rescue Plan (10:45 a.m., Room 418). Assemblywomen Shavonda Sumpter and Verlina Reynolds Jackson join panelists. This NBC-LEO & NJ Legislative Black Caucus session will explore the need for a racial impact statement and tracking of resource distribution to ensure equity at all levels in the expenditures of the American Rescue Plan funding.
New Jersey Tourism in the Wake of COVID-19 (1:30 p.m., Room 301). NJ Tourism Industry Executive Director Joseph Simonetta and other experts address various recovery efforts and long-term strategies relating to funding, destination marketing, and planning. It will highlight recent legislation, industry protocols, and responses related to tourism and economic development that will raise awareness to your community leadership.
Reminder: CEU Scanning for Credits For those attending sessions to earn CEU credits, please remember to scan in and out of the session using the touch-free scanning system. As you enter an educational session you will scan your badge face side up at the badge scanner at the entrance. Once you have scanned your badge, the scanner will make a “beep” sound. You may now enter the session. When the session has finished, you will sign out for the session the same way you signed in. All attendees must scan in and out for credit. All certificates will display the attendee's sign-in and sign-out time. If the scanner does not work properly, please let the Room Monitors on the 3rd floor near classrooms 305 and 306 or the 4th floor near classrooms 405 and 406 know. You will be able to download your certificates through the CEU tracking system and print them out from your home or office computer.
