I. Infrastructure Day of Action
The White House is hosting an infrastructure day of action TODAY, Thursday May, 6 as part of the Biden-Harris administration’s “Getting America Back on Track” effort. For this day of action, they are asking elected officials and other stakeholders to share photos and videos of your highest priority infrastructure projects on social media and to highlight the urgent need to pass the .
Photos of roads, bridges, or other infrastructure that are in need of repair, as well as photos of improvement plans that are in the works but need funding would be helpful. If you are interested, please use #AmericanJobsPlan to share your stories, photos, and videos on social media.

II.Governor Murphy Eases Restrictions on COVID-19 On Monday, Governor Murphy issued Executive Order 238 easing certain restrictions on indoor dining, bar seating, outdoor gatherings, and more. The Governor also announced that effective May 19, New Jersey will remove COVID-19 capacity restrictions for indoor dining and eliminate all restrictions for outdoor dining. Governor Murphy stated, “These are the most aggressive steps we have taken to reopen to date, and we feel confident that we can do this safely because our numbers have trended decisively in the right direction over the past three weeks.”
Under Executive Order 238, Effective May 7 at 6:00 a.m.: - Removes limits on outdoor gatherings for religious services or celebrations, political activity, weddings, funerals, memorials, addiction support groups, and government legislative proceedings. Indoor gatherings limits increased to 50% of room capacity but no larger than 250 persons. The indoor gathering limits do not apply to government legislative proceedings, including governing body meetings.
- Increases outdoor entertainment centers to 6-feet social distancing but no more than 500 people
- Increases outdoor sports and entertainment venues with 1,000-plus fixed-seating to 50% of capacity
- Catered events capacity is 6-feet social distancing but no more than 500 people, excluding venue staff
- Increases athletic practices and competitions outdoor limit to 500 people, excluding athletes, coaches, trainers, referees, etc.
- Permits carnivals and fairs to operate at the amusement business capacity
- Increases private residence indoor gatherings to 25 people
- Permits dance floors for indoor and outdoor celebrations or private catered events but not for nightclubs or bars
- Allows self-serve buffets and salad bars for food and beverage establishments
- Removes prohibition of indoor bar seating and service. However, in-person service to patrons standing at the bar remains in effect.
According to the Governor, it is anticipated that effective May 19 the State will: - Completely remove outdoor gathering limits
- Remove the limit of groups of 8 for dining
- Remove the 50% capacity limits on indoor dining
- Remove the limits at gyms, personal care, etc., but still requires adherence to 6- foot social distancing
- Indoor gatherings increase to 50 people (e.g., house parties, birthday parties)
- Remove the percentage limit on indoor catered events, with a maximum of 250 people
Indoor venues with 1,000 seating capacity limit increases to 30% of capacity. Business are still mandated that all customers and employees wear masks and practice social distancing.
