Governor Murphy Announces Easing of COVID-19 Restrictions
On Monday, Governor Murphy announced that New Jersey will be easing restrictions on outdoor gatherings and indoor catered events. Outdoor gatherings will increase from the current limit of 200 people to 500. Along with outdoor venues, the capacity limit will increase from 30% for venues with 2,500 fixed seats or more or 50% with outdoor venues with 1,000 fixed seats. Indoor gathering events will have the capacity expanded to a 50% maximum capacity limit or 250 people, whichever is less.
Governor Murphy is expected to relax more restrictions as the number of fully vaccinated residents grows. Currently, more than 6.7 million vaccinations have been administered statewide with more being given every day. The Governor indicated that the Executive Order easing the current restrictions will be issued next week, but will be effective as of May 10.
Further, the Governor indicated that an Executive Order will be issued Wednesday regarding summer overnight and day camps.
