Applications Sought for Innovation in Governance Awards
Dear Mayor:
The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and the New Jersey League of Municipalities are inviting municipalities to submit applications for the Innovation in Governance Awards, an annual recognition program. This is a great opportunity to showcase innovative solutions to any problems that have cropped up–either suddenly or over time–in your municipality. It can also be an opportunity to share solutions to the challenges faced by local leaders with your peers statewide.
The Innovation in Governance Awards committee will continue to look for original approaches undertaken by Garden State municipalities. The committee is looking for innovations that were implemented and active from June 1, 2019, to September 30, 2020, and any innovation in any department or program will be considered for recognition.
The Judges this year will be League Past Presidents Paul Matacera and Plainsboro Mayor Peter Cantu; the Director of the Division of Local Government Services, Melanie Walter; and, NJLM’s Executive Director, Michael Cerra.
The full invitation and application can be accessed at the DCA website under their “quick links” section or at the Leagues website, under the “Awards” section. You may also access the same by clicking on either of the links below:
The nomination deadline for this program was extended to Friday, October 30, 2020. Please forward this information to the appropriate people in your municipality today, giving them ample time to meet this deadline.
