I. Governor Signs EO 164 Postponing Annual Municipal and County Party Committee Meetings and Special Elections
On Monday, Governor Murphy signed Executive Order 164 (EO 164), which temporarily suspended statutory requirements for the annual municipal and county party committee meetings as well as postponing elections to November 3.
The Municipal and County Committees have new deadlines for their annual meetings. The order changes the statutory deadline to following dates after the July primary results are certified:
- Municipal and County Party Members take office July 25, 2020 (first Saturday after elections)
- Municipal Party Committee Annual Meeting the first Monday after the certification of elections.
- County Party Committee Annual Meeting the first Tuesday after certification of elections.
All upcoming special elections that would have commenced between July 7 and November 3, 2020 are postponed. All elections will resume on November 3, the same day as the 2020 General Election.
The Order took effect immediately.
