The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, managed by the U.S. Department of Energy, aims to help states, local governments, and Tribes reduce energy use, lower fossil fuel emissions, and improve energy efficiency. The program offers both formula and competitive grants and has a total funding amount of $550 million.
The Program has recently extended its application deadlines, providing more time for local governments and Tribes to apply. Local governments now have until October 31, 2024, while Tribes have until May 31, 2025. To get started, applicants should review the Administrative and Legal Requirements Document (ALRD) and Application Instructions, which offer a comprehensive overview of the program’s structure and the application process.
Additionally, the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is offering no-cost application support for local government applicants, which can be accessed through the EECBG Application Support Form. Entities can apply for either a voucher or a grant, but not both. The ICMA will provide application support regardless of membership status For more information on the EECBG Program, please visit the Office of State and Community Energy Programs website.
