Governor Signs 20 and Out Legislation

Governor Murphy signed S-3090/A-4498, which permits police and fire employees to retire after 20 years of service, regardless of age, with a retirement benefit of 50% of final compensation, into law on July 3, 2023. P.L. 2023, 92 took effect immediately. The conditional veto of the bill was unanimously approved by the Assembly and Senate at the end of June.
