Bill Clarifying Electronic Public Meetings Clears Committee

On Thursday, the Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee approved S-2603. The bill seeks to clarify the ability of a public body to hold electronic meetings, and if doing so the appropriate notice requirements.

S-2603 is now in second reading in the Senate. Its Assembly counterpart, A-4119, has not yet been scheduled for committee review.

The League supports this legislation as it provides some clarity on when an electronic meeting can be held, and what notice is required under the circumstances. We do believe, however, that additional clarification is needed, and we hope to work with the Legislature on a more comprehensive measure.
