This week, League staff participated in a stakeholder meeting hosted by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) regarding the New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NJPDES) permit fees. The meeting was to introduce the NJDEP’s proposed changes to the NJPDES permit fee structure. NJPDES permit fees include municipal stormwater permit fees, along with other commercial and industrial permits.
The general sense is that these fees will increase to meet NJDEP’s budget costs, but no estimate was provided. The NJDEP anticipates a rule proposal this spring. The League will continue to monitor this issue and will provide an update as necessary.
