Department of Homeland Security Funding Shut Down

Federal Government Posted on February 18, 2026

Funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) expired on February 13, leading to a partial government shutdown of its agencies including Transportation Safety Administration (TSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Secret Service, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Senate is currently unable to reach the 60-vote threshold to agree on funding. Most employees will continue to work without pay.

During the 2025 partial government shutdown, staffing absences led to cancelled and delayed flights. While the Department of Transportation is funded so the Federal Aviation Administration is not affected, TSA staffing shortages could affect airport operations.

There has not yet been any guidance disbursed about how to handle the partial shutdown. We will provide updates as they become available.
