S-4654/A-5788, which provides a permanent solution to the requirement of publishing public notices online was released from both the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and Assembly Budget Committee on Thursday and both scheduled to a floor vote on Monday.
The League supports S-4654/A-5788 as it provides a permanent solution to the requirement of publishing public notices online. Starting March 1, 2026. local governments (municipalities, counties, school districts, special districts) would be required to publish their legal notices on their official websites. From January 1 to December 31, 2026, twice a month, the local government would be required to publish a notice in the newspapers (pursuant to P.L. 2024, c. 106) with the link to the municipality’s webpage for official notices. For more information on the legislation please see our June 23 posting.
We thank the sponsors Senate President Scutari, Senator Bucco, and Assemblyman Schnall for advancing legislation to provide a permanent solution. Please contact your Senator and Assembly representatives and urge them to vote yes on S-4654/A-5788 on Monday.
