Municipal Leaders Testify on Transportation Trust Fund

Today in Atlantic City, Mayor Robert Jackson of Montclair joined Mayor Tim McDonough of Hope Township in testimony calling for renewal of the Transportation Trust Fund to finance State and local infrastructure projects. Mayor McDonough, a League Past President, also Chairs the League’s Transportation Trust Fund Renewal Task Force. The testimony was presented to the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee, Chaired by Assemblyman John Wisniewski, at a special hearing conducted in conjunction with the League of Municipalities’ Annual Conference.

Chairman Wisniewski convened his Committee at the Conference, in order to give local leaders from throughout the State the opportunity to weigh in on this crucial matter. The Trust Fund will run out of resources, early next year.

At Chairman Wisniewski’s request, the League surveyed members during September and October to gauge municipal support for or opposition to a number of possible transportation funding reforms.

The testimony presented today and related information is available on the League’s Transportation Trust Fund page.
